Joseph Petcka, 37, is on trial on charges of killing his girlfriend’s cat because he was in a jealous rage. Petcka, an ex Mets minor leaguer, is accused of hitting the cat named Norman until it died.

Lisa Altobelli, Petcka’s girlfriend, took the witness stand on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Joseph Petcka is 6 feet 3 inches. Petcka beat the cat after Lisa Altobelli left her home in anger on March 27, 2007. Petcka claimed Norman the cat attacked him. But Norman was declawed. Petcka claimed through his lawyer that the cat bit him.
