Joseph Brooks: Brooks indicted on sex charges
By Clarencia Cynrae on January 12th, 2009Updated June 23 2009 – Joseph Brooks has been indicted by a grand jury in Manhattan. Brooks has to surrender himself to the authorities on Tue, June 23. Brooks, 71, faces 82 charges for rapes, sodomy and other crimes.
Loretta Spruell, 23, of Washington State, who was a victim of Brooks’ alleged sexual advances, said she was glad Brooks will be served justice for his deeds.
Shawni Lucier, Joseph Brooks’ assistant, is expected to surrender herself next week. Lucier has been accused of assisting Brooks in procuring women for him. Lucier allegedly traveled to accompany the women to bring them to Brooks.

Joseph Brooks, 70, a director, is under investigation for sexual assault. Some women complained that when they visited Joseph Brooks in his NYC home to audition for screen roles, they were sexually assaulted. Police are digging in to locate evidence for those claims.
Joseph Brooks was famous for his Oscar. Brooks won an Oscar in 1977 for his romantic love song, “You Light Up My Life.” This song was sung by Debby Boone. Brooks wrote and directed the comedy movie based on “You Light Up My Life.”
Joseph Brooks was accused of luring women by posting internet announcements for upcoming movie roles. Police said that when a woman victim responded to a call for an audition, Brooks would ask her to attend a try out or audition. Brooks would audition the woman to play a prostitute She would have to drink and perform sex acts on him. Some women reported they were drugged. Police are checking and trying to discover the number of women who were scammed.
