Jonathan Rhys Meyers was at the Charles De Gaulle, an airport in France when he was accused of assaulting a worker at the airport lounge bar. Meyers, 31, was detained by the French police on Saturday, June 20. Meyers was held in police custody for some hours after he was reported to have punched a bar employee.

The French newspaper Agence France Presse reported that Myers was accused of punching a worker at the bar while he was drunk or after having had some drinks. Myers and the bar manager had a shouting argument as the manager refused to serve him drinks because Myers appeared intoxicated. A waiter tried to intervene to broker peace but Myers punched him.

Meyers has to appear at the Correctional Tribunal in Bobigny in September 2009 to answer charges on voluntary violence, contempt, death threats and assault.
