Jonathan Caruso, 18, was driving on Essex Road (Boston) when he hit two female pedestrians. Caruso was returning home after his school prom. Carol Marean, 67, and her daughter Charlotte Marean, 41, were hit by Caruso’s car. Carol Marean died on the spot. Charlotte was critically injured.

Caruso and two others in his car tried to flee. A neighbor on the road threatened to report them so they stayed until police arrived. Caruso failed his sobriety test. Caruso allegedly said he had 10 beers that day.

Caruso was detained on a $7500 cash bail until his family bailed him out. Jonathan Caruso pleaded not guilty to motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, operating under the influence of alcohol, and unlawfully transporting alcohol.
