John Walker Lindh, a native of California, fought his native US Forces on behalf of the Talibans in Afghanistan. Lindh was captured by US forces in Afghanistan in 2001. Lindh became known as the American Taliban.

John Walker Lindh pleaded guilty in July 2002 to charges of carrying illegal explosives and aiding the Taliban. Lindh’s parents have asked President George Bush and First lady Laura Bush to commute John’s sentence of 20 years. John Lindh has served 7 years in prison out of his original 20 years.
