John Valdez, an ex coach of the University of Illinois gymnastic team, has been arrested and charged with secretly videotaping a gymnast in the locker room on campus. John Valdez became famous when his student, Justin Spring, became a US Olympic champion at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

On Sept. 25, a gymnastics student, 22, who had trained with Justin Spring, noticed the video camera partially hidden under a T shirt in an open locker. This student reported it to Valdez. Later, this same student called up campus police to check but discovered Valdez failed to report the incident. Suspicion immediately fell on Valdez, 40. Police searched his home and found the video cam. By then, the images were deleted from the camera. Technicians restored the images. The images were not described but John Valdez has been charged. The videos may be naughty, dirty videos.

John Valdez resigned from his job in Oct. Valdez will appear in court on Dec. 12.
