John Lennon: Lennon’s Jesus comment forgiven by Vatican

By Clarencia Cynrae on November 23rd, 2008

In 1966, John Lennon once said that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus. Lennon’s remark sparked a major scandal. In the US, groups of people burned Beatles’ records in demonstrations of protest. The Osservatore Romano then paid tribute to the Beatles by observing that 38 years after the band broke up, their songs remained influential.
