Johanna Sigurdardottir is Iceland’s new Prime Minister. Sigurdardottir became Iceland’s Prime Minister on Sunday, Feb 1, 2009. Sigurdardottir is the world’s first openly gay Prime Minister. Sigurdardottir is the first female Prime Minister of Iceland. Sigurdardottir scored a double first.

Sigurdardottir has been a member of Parliament in Iceland for 30 years. Sigurdardottir’s female spouse is Jonina Leosdottir, 54, an author and playwright. Sigurdardottir has two children from an earlier marriage.
