Joe Conforte was a businessman who built up an empire running the prostitution ring. Conforte joined ranks with Sally Burgess. Conforte married Burgess because of their mutual interest to build up their business. Conforte made millions in the brothel the couple ran.
Conforte tried to diversify his business by backing a boxer called Oscar Bonavena. However, Bonavena had a mind of his own. The boxer secretly coveted Conforte’s life. Bonavena tried to steal what he could not have. Conforte found out the truth about Bonavena and warned him to leave. Bonavena refused to budge and ended up being killed.
