Joaquin Phoenix was on David Letterman to promote his new movie, “Two Lovers”. Phoenix was almost unresponsive and appeared sleepy behind his shades. Phoenix nearly nodded with his chin down on his chest.

David Letterman cracked a joke and asked Phoenix to tell about his days as a “unibomber”. That was to get a reaction from Phoenix.

Letterman squeezed everything he could out of Phoenix on him being bland in his replies. After about 10 minutes, Letterman wrapped up the nearly one sided monologue. Letterman said, “We’re sorry you couldn’t be here.”
