Jimmy Lee Dill has been executed by lethal injection. Dill died at 6:16 pm Thursday, April 16. Dill died on death row at Holman Prison, Alabama.

Dill was executed for the 1988 murder of Leon Shaw during a robbery for cocaine. Dill’s last words were that he hoped peace would descend to those who needed it. Dill said he was content.

Dill has exhausted his appeals. Dill’s lawyers tried their best to win a reprieve for him by claiming he had ineffective lawyers during his murder trial. They claim Dill misunderstood a plea deal to save his life. The US Supreme Court and Alabama’s high court rejected requests to delay the execution.
