Jim Jones was the leader of Peoples Temple. This self professed messiah forced 900 over Peoples Temple followers to die in Jonestown, Guyana, in November 1978. Jim Jones had his gunman force Peoples Temple followers to swallow poison. The documentary, “Witness to Jonestown”, came out on the year of the 30th anniversary of the Jonestown massacre. The documentary used real evidence from survivors of the Jonestown massacre.

Congressman Leo Ryan flew into Guyana to see what was happening with the huge number of people known as the Peoples Temple. Leo Ryan was killed by the Peoples Temple members. Three journalists from NBC, who had accompanied Leo Ryan, were also murdered.

The documentary, “Witness to Jonestown” had a review that said it contained nothing new but the film was a revisit to the same set of evidence that was presented in earlier doocumentaries about Jim Jones, People Temple and the Jonestown Massacre.
