Jessica Brooks, 18, of Evansville, Indiana, was burned when her hair on her head caught fire. Brooks had soaked her hair in gasoline, trying to kill head lice.

The gas fumes caught fire and her head was in flames. Brooks’ hair caught fire when the pilot light from the water heater ignited the fumes. Brooks was engaged to be married to Ronald Young. Young was present in the apartment and he had burns on his arms. Young tried to extinguish the fire on his fiancee’s head. Jessica Brooks is now in hospital in a serious condition. Her doctors have placed her in a medically induced coma.
