Updated July 8 2009 – Jesse James Hollywood has been found guilty of kidnapping and murder.

Jesse James Hollywood stands accused of kidnapping Nicholas Markowitz, then 15, in 2000. Hollywood was a drug dealer in Calif. The story was made into a movie called “Alpha Dog”.

Alpha Dog was based on a true story but the names of characters were fictionalized.

Nicholas Markowitz’s half brother, Ben Markowitz, owed a drug debt. Nicholas Markowitz was kidnapped because of this and he was later killed. Ben Markowitz allegedly owed the debt because of marijuana he took from Hollywood.

Nicholas Markowitz befriended his kidnappers and resisted his chances of escaping. When Hollywood learned he could face life in prison for kidnapping, he decided to kill Nicholas Markowitz. Hollywood convinced Ryan Hoyt to kill Nicholas Markowitz to erase Hoyt’s drug debt. Hoyt has been convicted and sentenced to death.

Jesse James Hollywood was arrested in Brazil on March 8, 2005. Hollywood was extradited to Calif.

Nicholas Markowitz’s parents are Jeff and Susan Markowitz.
