Where is Jerry Remy’s cancer? Jerry Remy has to take some time off to recover from his lung cancer surgery late in 2008. Remy was a former smoker. Remy will be away for an indefinite period of time. Remy had an infection which caused him to miss out some engagements, especially on Red Sox Nation spring training. To complicate health matters, Remy developed pneumonia.
Jerry Remy shared his cancer with the public because he wanted to punch home the message on cancer and smoking. Remy said smoking was dangerous. Jerry Remy wanted children to be aware of the risks of smoking.

Jerry Remy: Where is Jerry Remy
Jerry Remy, the NESN announcer, is ill. Remy flew home from Tampa. Remy elected to fly home to Boston to better deal with his illness. It was unclear why Jerry Remy was sick. Remy is expected to be at work for Wednesday’s game on May 6 against the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park.
In the meantime, Buck Martinez replaced Jerry Remy . Martinez has stepped in to fill Remy’s shoes until Remy is well enough to resume his duties.
