Jerry Johnson & Michele Mallin helping Timothy Cole’s family
By Clarencia Cynrae on February 5th, 2009Timothy Cole was wrongly accused of rape. Cole was convicted and sentenced to 25 years. Cole died in prison of asthma. Michele Mallin, the rape victim, described her attacker as an African America who chain smoked. The rape on March 24 1985 had a trial and Cole was convicted.
In Dec 2, 1999, Cole died from an asthma attack. Cole was 39.
In 1995, Jerry Johnson, the real rapist of Michele Mallin, wrote to several people to confess his crime. His letter was ignored. Johnson was already a prisoner with a 99 year sentence. One of Johnson’s letters reached Cole’s family. Now, Cole’s family is trying to get his name exonerated. The case will be heard in court Thursday Feb 5 2009.
Michele Mallin said she regretted the wrong man was convicted and died in prison. Mallin wants to help to exonerate Timothy Cole’s name.
