Updated July 29 – Jeremy Mayfield has sued his stepmother for making defamatory comments about him. Mayfield’s stepmom told some sources that she saw Jeremy Mayfield use drugs on many occasions.

July 15 – Jeremy Mayfield and his wife Shana Mayfield are working hard to bring their team, Mayfield Motorsports, to Chicago. However, the Mayfield couple lack sponsorship and money to race.

NASCAR suspended Mayfield in May 2009 after he failed a random drug test. NASCAR announced Jeremy Mayfield tested positive for methamphetamines. Shana and Jeremy Mayfield may be selling Mayfield Motorsports to get money.

Mayfield tested positive a second time on July 6. Mayfield’s stepmother, Lisa Mayfield, said she saw him using methamphetamines at least 30 times in 7 years, between 1998 to 2005.

July 1 – Jeremy Mayfield may have killed his career. On Wednesday, July 1, 2009, a NASCAR official said Jeremy Mayfield’s drug test turned up methamphetamines. In the middle of May 2009, Jeremy Mayfield received his suspension when his urine tested positive for a banned substance. Its only now that NASCAR has decided to reveal the substance that got Mayfield banned.

Jeremy Mayfield, a driver for NASCAR, has been suspended from work. Mayfield failed his random drug test. Details will be revealed later. Mayfield is the first driver to be suspended under NASCAR’s new substance abuse policy.
