Jeff Klee: What happened to Jeff Klee

By Therese Lisieux on June 3rd, 2009

“48 Hours Mystery” featured the case of Jeff Klee. Flossie Klee reported her son Jeff Klee, 18, missing, in June 1977. Jeff Klee had a girlfriend named Ginny Healy. Flossie Klee and her husband took out a life insurance policy for Jeff on $100,000. Back in the 1970s, that was a large amount.

Jeff Klee’s friends, David Cusanelli and Alan Carpenter, worked for Bucky Klee. Jeff’s father, Bucky Klee, ran a landscaping business. After Jeff disappeared, David Cusanelli stopped working for Mr Klee.

Bucky Klee died in 2004.

In March 2008, authorities drudged the C-14 canal. Jeff Klee’s van was found, along with his bones. The day they found Jeff Klee was Bucky Klee’s birthday.

Danna Holmes met David Cusanelli some 30 years after Jeff Klee disappeared. Cusanelli confessed he accidentally killed his best friend some 30 years ago. Cusanelli said they fought over a girl and he killed Klee.

Ginny Healy finally confessed she cheated on Jeff Klee by making out with his friend David Cusanelli. Klee found out and he broke up with Healy.

That tied in with Holmes’s story that Cusanelli told her he killed his friend over a fight about a girl.

David Cusanelli, at 50, refused to confess to police that he killed Jeff Klee.

The statute of limitations in Florida has exhausted its time line. Flossie Klee and her family are unable to sue David Cusanelli for Jeff Klee’s death.
