Jeff Katz: WBT AM Jeff Katz replaced by Tara Servatius
By Therese Lisieux on December 1st, 2008Jeff Katz was fired by WBT AM (1110). Jeff Katz was the host of his own show, called “The Jeff Katz Show”, on weekday afternoons on WBT AM.
WBT ‘s general manager, Rick Jackson, refused to discuss the reason for firing Jeff Katz. Jeff Katz’s radio spot at 3 – 6 pm will be taken over by Tara Servatius, a columnist for creative Loafing. Tara Servatius has been a known voice at Katz’s slot since she has done some temporary standins for Katz once in a blue moon. Tara Servatius had a regular show on WBT at 9 – 12 midnight since May 2007.
Jeff Katz was honored to be named inside the “Heavy Hundred” list of top talk show hosts in the US in 2008. Talkers, the radio trade magazine, named Jeff Katz as one inside the top 100. Jeff Katz, like many talk show hosts, sometimes had strong opinions and disagreed with his callers.

This may be a mistake for WBT… I hope this is not the first step at getting rid of conservative talk radio.

I like Tara as she has the facts at hand to back up her assertions. Something that Jeff Katz did not strongly exhibit. The facts were also a strong point of Jason Lewis. This is what 3-6 was missing, not conservative/moderate or combative/non-agressive……….

i hope this is not the backlash from obama about being upset at being called barry by jeff

Tara is a far better host than Katz and this is coming from a conservative. Katz drove me insane. Bob has it right. Katz almost never had facts to back his opinion. That was one of the things I liked about Jason Lewis when he was here… now we have Tara which, while not as good as Lewis, is someone who I will actually listen to.

I believe that Jeff will be eventually replaced by a liberal talk show host as WBT has a record of going with the flow.
I think it is a terrible mistake to replace their biggest star/draw. Before Jeff…after Rush went off I turned the radio off. But I always listened to Jeff.
I guess his being a non back down conservative
won’t fit in now that we have an uber liberal president.
WBT has lost me…except for Rush Limbaugh. I guess
they’ll drop him next. And replace him with Al Franken.

Jeff was very abrasive with callers and cut almost everyone of them off that weren’t in 100% agreement with him. Jeff also attacked people that were Muslims, African Americans, Poor, and Immigrants. He seemed to enjoy attacking the most vulnerable. I think people got tired of the negativity. Tara is better educated, from Charlotte and a good fit for our community.

This is the first of many ways the media is supperssing the real conservatives in Charlotte and this country. WBT is just like all the other media in Charlotte. It is time to change stations.

WBT messed up big time when they let Jason Lewis leave. Katz was no conservative. Glad to see him go. Tara has a bit of an NPR style, but makes some good points.

Face it kids….Jeffy was not sacked as part of some left-wing conspiracy. Jeffy was sacked because he could not deliver the goods. Less advertisers were buying….less listeners were listening. He was a dullard. He was intellectually dishonest. He was inflammatory merely for the sake of being inflammatory. That said, I am not sure that I believe the whispers that he also had a penchant for young boys.

I will miss Jeff Katz, I enjoyed the show. He is a REAL conservative. I will probably listen more on my lap top to conservative stations I enjoy. To Peter, his name is not JEFFY…is it Jeff. Please try and be respectfuly, it is the Season to be NICE, I hope JEFF finds a station that will appreciate him.

I cannot help but laugh at these comment about Jeff. Every comment about him berating his callers IS TRUE. As soon as he feels he’s losing a fight, he’ll run from it. Look at his career track. He can’t stay steady in one place, because people can only take the negativity and closed-mindedness for so long. Good riddance!

good bye, so long, glad he’s gone,
did he move has family up to Alaska ?
too disrespectful, too close minded, too negative, too condescending, Hey Jeff – try wrestling again, your character type may have a better following there.
you weren’t smart, you were a smart-ass.

Thanks God this crying baby is gone. His high pitched voice was really annoying. Always complaining, nothing positive to say.
