By Therese Lisieux on June 23rd, 2009Jeanice McMillan, 42, of Springfield, was the operator of the Metro train that crashed into another stationary train. McMillan’s train rear-ended the other train outside Fort Totten station in northeast Washington. Jeanice McMillan died in the crash.
McMillan joined the Metro in Jan 2007. A source said McMillan was relatively new and inexperienced as she ranked 18th from the bottom of the list that contained 523 names of drivers.
Metro train drivers have to learn driving a bus for a year. If a bus driver applies to become a train driver, they are sent for training on how to operate a train. The training for driving a train takes 12 weeks.
There is an investigation into the causes of the accident.

Lavonda King, 23, sometimes her name was spelled as Lavanda King.
