Jean Adamson, 81, the UK writer for Topsy and Tim, was mugged. Adamson, the author of the popular children’s series of books, suffered a broken left arm after she was accosted by a robber who dragged her on the ground by holding onto her shopping bag.

Adamson was walking home after visiting the Post Office. A young man mugged her on the street.

The mugger got Adamson’s bag after she let go. Leo, Adamson’s son, said his mother took a lot of punishment with bruises on her neck, knee and arm. Mrs Adamson lost her credit cards and driving license, which were kept in her purse, placed inside the shopping bag

Adamson is the widow of Gareth Adamson, who died in 1982. Jean and Gareth Adamson were married in 1957. The Adamsons began writing Topsy and Tim books and have created 130 titles.
