Xavier Ortiz, 3, shot himself dead with a handgun. Ortiz found the gun under a pillow on his parents’ bed in Castroville, Texas. Xavier Ortiz was thought to have used the gun to shoot at his head.

Xavier Ortiz and several other children were in the house searching for Easter eggs when he found the loaded gun in his parents’ room.

When Javier and Aguero Ortiz heard the gunshot, it was too late. The Ortizs found their son dead from the gunshot to his head. The Ortizs live in Medina County and the Sheriff said he holds the parents accountable for Xavier Ortiz’s death.
