James Miller: Israel settles with James Miller’s family (photos)
By Therese Lisieux on February 2nd, 2009James Miller, 34,of Braunton, North Devon, a British film maker, was fatally shot by the Israel Army. Miller died in May 2003 when he was in a refugee camp in Rafah, Gaza. Miller was documenting the lives of Palestinian kids in Rafah when he was fatally shot in the neck.
Miller’s killer, Lieutenant Hib al-Heib was cleared by the Israeli army inquiry and he was promoted to become a captain. Miller’s family filed a lawsuit against Israel. The Miller family won. Israel will have to pay the Miller family £1.5 million in a settlement.
In 2006, an inquest in the UK said Miller was unlawfully killed. Miller left behind his wife, Sophy Miller, and his children, Alexander Miller and Lottie Miller.
