James Degorski: James Degorski Browns Chicken restaurant murders verdict
By Clarencia Cynrae on October 21st, 2009James Degorski’s jury recommended that he be sentenced to life in prison. Ten jurors voted in favor of the death penalty while two jurors held out. One of the two jurors who firmly held out despite the second vote was Pablo Laboy, 31, of Chicago. Laboy said he thought Degorski had a rough childhood and lacked psychiatric help.
James Degorski, a former handyman, was accused of killing 7 workers at Brown’s Chicken restaurant in Palatine in 1993. The relatives and some jurors felt disappointed that Degorski was not to be given the death penalty.
On Tuesday, October 20, James Degorski, 37, was sentenced to life in prison.
