Updated Feb 3 2010 – James Arthur Ray, the self improvement guru who ran a cleansing and spiritual retreat at a sweat lodge, has been arrested. Ray was arrested on Wed, Feb 3. Ray was charged with manslaughter for three deaths at the lodge.

Ray has been detained on $5 million bond. Ray will be getting transferred to Camp Verde Detention Center. Ray was prepared to get arrested when he showed up at his lawyer’s office on Wednesday.

Kirby Brown, 38, James Shore, 40, and Liz Neuman, 49, were three of Ray’s followers who died at the sweat lodge. Eighteen other people at the retreat suffered injuries.

Angel Valley Spiritual Retreat Center sweat lodge in Phoenix, Arizona, saw 2 dead and nineteen hospitalized. Some were released after treatment.One middle aged woman and middle aged man died but their names were not released.
