Jamarr Cruz was found beaten to death. Cruz’s mother’s boyfriend, Vincent Williams, was charged on suspicion of beating Cruz.

Jamarr Cruz, 9, died on Tuesday, March 31. The cause of death was blunt force trauma. Vincent Williams has been charged with the murder of Jamarr Cruz. Williams has been detained in lieu of $1 million bail.

Jamarr Cruz was known to have been beaten by a belt in 2007. The New Jersey welfare agency investigated for a year and closed its file around November 2008. The State thought Cruz had a safe home. Four months later, Jamarr Cruz died from a suspected assault attack by Williams.
