Kirvat Yam, near Haifa, in Israel, has offered $1.2 million for a photo of the Israel mermaid. Many locals have reported sightings of a mermaid, dubbed the Israel Mermaid, in the town of Kirvat Yam, near Haifa.

A beachgoer claimed he saw a girl lying on the sand in an unnatural position. When he got nearer, the girl jumped up and leapt into the sea. The man claimed he saw a mermaid’s tail attached to her body.

Kirvat Yam’s spokesman, Natti Zilberman, gave a statement to UK’s Sky News. Mr Zilberman said he received sighting reports from independent sources. The Israel mermaid was usually seen at sunset. Zilberman repeated descriptions of the sea mermaid. He said the mermaid jumped like a dolphin. Witnesses said the mermaid did some tricks before disappearing into the water.

Caution needs to be exercised as Zilberman warned it could be a promotional gimmick to boast tourism. Zilberman expressed hope that the mermaid would boost tourism and make that $1.2 million reward a worthwhile investment for Kirvat Yam.

The photo below is a sample and not the Israel mermaid.

Actors Maxim Loktionov as Ivan and Yekaterina Vilkova as Mermaid appear in a scene from Vadim Sokolovsky’s “The Book of Masters” film.
