Ingushetia President, Yunus Bek Yevkurov was seriously wounded when a suicide car bomber drove into his convoy. Yevkurov was hurt at 8:30 am, Sunday, June 21.

Yevkurov ‘s spokesman Kaloi Akhilgov downplayed the bomb attack. He said Yevkurov suffered a concussion and some broken ribs. He is expected to live.

Hospital workers said Yevkurov was critically injured with serious burns, brain injuries and had internal damage on his organs.

Yevkurov’s driver and one bodyguard were killed. One other bodyguard was wounded.

The suicide car bomber destroyed Yevkurov’s car. Two houses by the road had damaged roofs and windows.
