Updated on March 3 – Ingmar Guandique will be arrested and tried for the murder of Chandra Levy. There was no evidence to tie Ingmar Guandique to Levy’s murder. There were several unidentified witnesses who gave statements. These witnesses said Ingmar Guandique told them he killed Levy. Prosecutors are confident “cumulative” circumstantial evidence will work to convict Guandique. (Source with photo of Ingmar Guandique)

Chandra Levy’s remains were found in 2002, in Rock Creek Park. Levy, 24, had disappeared about 1 year ago in 2001. Washington DC police told the press they are close to arresting and charging a suspect for the murder of Levy. This comes 8 years after Levy’s death.

The suspect is Ingmar Guandique. Guandique was convicted on other offences and is currently in prison. Guandique allegedly told a prison inmate he killed Levy. However, Guandique denied that to investigators. Guandique said he did not know Levy and had nothing to do with her case.

The other suspect is Andique. Andique had attacked two women in the same park where Levy’s remains were found. Andique attacked one woman in May 2001 and another in July 2001. Andique is currently serving his 10 year sentence for his previous convictions and he will be released in 2011.

Police most probably will arrest Guandique.
