Ike Pappas, a former CBS newsman, died at 75. Ike Pappas broadcast the news of Lee Harvey Oswald’s death when he was fatally shot.

Ike Pappas was among the first to report the incident live on air because he was within a few feet from where Oswald stood. Ike Pappas died on Sunday, Aug 31. Pappas died because of complications from heart disease.

Ike Pappas is survived by his wife, Carolyn Pappas. They have two sons, Theodore Pappas and Alexander Pappas, a daughter, Sarah Thomason and two grandchildren.
