Ian Sloan York, 21, shot his girlfriend, Kelly Roome, 19, on Saturday night, July 4. York himself died in a shootout with police in Santa Clara, Calif. York allegedly shot Roome because he saw her putting her arm around a man. York shot both Roome and the man.

Roome died in hospital. The man was treated and released. A witness told a newspaper that York and Roome appeared to be drunk before the shots were fired.

On Sunday, July 5, York was seen by police and he fired at them. Reinforcements were called in as York escaped into the woods near El Camino Real. After the gun battle, York was killed.

Ian York was working as an Air Force airman, first class. York was stationed at Beale Air Force Base. The other man who was with Roome and shot was also from Beagle air force. Police did not know if York knew the other man when he shot him.

Kelly Roome, RIP.
