Huma Abedin, one of Hilary Clinton’s aides, is engaged to Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-Brooklyn, Queens. Weiner popped the question to his girlfriend, Abedin, during the Memorial Day weekend holiday last July 4. Weiner, 44, and Abedin, 33, have yet to announce their wedding date. Both were said to be excited about getting married.

Anthony’s mother, Fran Weiner, told a newspaper that she approved of Abedin. Fran Weiner could not elaborate on how the wedding ceremony would be accommodating the couple’s different religions. Weiner is Jewish Orthodox while Abedin is a Muslim.

Huma Abedin was born in Michigan. Her mother is from Pakistan while her father is from India. Abedin grew up in Saudi Arabia and was educated in the US. Abedin started as an intern in Hilary Clinton’s office in 1996, when Clinton was the First Lady of the US.
