Hubert “Pit” Martin, a NHL star in the 1960s -1970s, died on Sun., Nov. 30. Hubert Martin drowned when his snowmobile fell into the cracked ice and plunged into an icy lake. Divers recovered Hubert Martin’s body on Tue., Dec. 2.

Hubert Martin lived on an island in the lake. He traveled by boat to and fro his home and the mainland during summer. In winter and spring, Martin used a snowmobile to commute to his home. Sometimes, the ice was not thick enough to support the weight of a snowmobile.

Hubert Martin, RIP.
