Aaron Eckhart acted as Harvey Dent, the District Attorney of Gotham City. Harvey Dent was successful, brave and a hero. One day, the Joker’s henchmen captured him and tied him up in a basement that was rigged with a bomb, with drums of keroscene around him. Harvey was connected to Rachel Dawes via a telephone.

As Harvey struggled to free himself, he leans against the wall where keroscene was leaking. Half of his face, ie the left half, was in contact with the fluid.

Rachel Dawes was similarly tricked and held prisoner at a site. She was also rigged to fire power that would explode and kill her. Harvey Dent and Rachel Dawes continued talking in their desperate bid to re-assure themselves that the other one was still alive.

The Joker played one of his jokes on them, Batman and the police. The authorities were given clues about 2 addresses where the two prisoners were held. Batman made a calculated guess or made a guess by pure luck and he arrived at the location where Harvey Dent was held. Batman had meant to rescue Rachel Dawes but since he saw that Harvey was the one at the spot, he rescued Harvey.

Batman rescued Harvey Dent in the nick of time before the basement and building exploded. However, Harvey Dent suffered facial burns. Harvey Dent was hospitalized. When he learnt that Rachel Dawes had died, he was heartbroken. He refused treatment for his burnt half face. His left side of the face became scarred, blackened and horrible.

Harvey Dent wanted his face to show his other side of his personality. He was Two Face in secret before but with his burns, he decided to become Two Face in earnest….
