Hindu temple in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, England
By Clarencia Cynrae on May 28th, 2008Sushila and Dhirajlal Karia used a spare bedroom in their home in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. The couple did a makeover to turn it into a mini Hindu temple. The Hinu temple had a shrine, 17 marble statues of gods and goddesses. Many religious deitied were flown in from India.
Sushila and Dhirajlal Karia invited a special priest from India to bless their mini temple. Tourists and devotees arrived to pray from all over Manchester, Leicester, London and all over England. About 40,000 – 50,000 had visited their temple in the past 30 years.
Sushila and Dhirajlal Karia claimed that devotees had their petitions answered. Sushila and Dhirajlal Karia’s temple observed all the common Hindu festivals and rituals. Mrs Karia has ailing health. She stopped providing food for her visitors. Sushila and Dhirajlal Karia expect repeat visits as that was the pattern observed from the past visitors.
