Herbert Alex Simpson, 30, wrote two fake letters accusing Tom Coughlin, the Giants coach, of having sexual trysts with two women. The letters threatened to expose Tom Coughlin unless he paid up money. It seemed that Herbert Alex Simpson tried to blackmail Tom Coughlin.

The women in the romps were identified as ND and AB and they threatened to tell Tom Coughlin’s wife about his affairs unless he paid each woman $10,000 – 15,000.

Tom Coughlin turned the letters over to NFL, who gave them to FBI. FBI’s agent Todd Berry interviewed the two women who were supposedly those mentioned in the letters as AB and ND. Both denied having anything to do with the letters. The women identified the handwriting as that belonging to Herbert Alex Simpson. Herbert Alex Simpson was known to have written threatening letters previously in other situations.

Herbert Alex Simpson had confessed to writing the two letters. He said that he had no intention to harm Tom Coughlin’s family. Herbert Alex Simpson will be prosecuted.
