Heather McNamara, 7, had surgery in February. McNamara was operated on to remove a deadly cancer tumor in her abdomen. Doctors at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian in Manhatten,NY, did McNamara’s surgery.

McNamara had 6 organs removed in order to extract her tumor. The surgeons then implanted three of these organs back into McNamara.

Six organs, consisting of the stomach, pancreas, liver, spleen, small intestine and large intestine – were removed during the surgery. Doctors found 3 organs could be saved and re-implanted back into McNamara’s body. She received her liver, small intestines and large intestines.
