By Therese Lisieux on January 10th, 2009Billy Robbins is the World’s Heaviest Teenager. Robbins weighs 60 stone, which is more than half a ton. Robbins is sometimes nicknamed as World’s Half Ton Teen.
Robbins was restricted in movements and housebound for the past 3 years. Robbins forced himself to lose weight because his doctors warned him about the health risks. The Half Ton Teen’s mother is Barbara Robbins, who loves him so much that she waits on him hand and foot. The World’s Heaviest Teenager loves hamburgers, pizza, cola, chips, donuts and fattening cheese.
How did Billy Robbins get to be so heavy? His mother dotted on him hand and foot. She lost a baby before Billy was born. Mrs Robbins felt guilty and fed Billy. She lavished food, attention and love on him to make up for her guilt of losing her child. Even after Billy became large in size, she did not stop. She could not stop herself and continued to feed Billy large amounts of food.
UK’s Channel 4 produced a documentary on Half Ton Son to feature Billy Robbin and his battle with the bulge.
Billy Robbins had 1 operation to remove 5 stone of flesh. Robbins changed his diet and sedentary life style. He lost 20 stone. Robbins had a surgery to fit him with a gastric band. Robbins left the hospital weighing 35 stone.

What has happened to him? I have been so worried for him I need to know he is alright. He is so young and his parents ought to be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen to this innocent young man. Please let the world know that Billy will have a fight at life! the documentary of billy was sick big time,his mother acted like he was 8 month old..And billy accepted the role,even after the surgery he was drooling and coughing up phlegm and let it go on his chest..he made no effort to clean it up..he just said sorry mum and she wiped it for him..same goes for when he crapped his self..he just told her and she changed him with a man size nappy has if the most normal thing in the world..this got be the most unhealthy relationship anyone could ever have.Billy now half his original size 7 2 09..having lost 30 stone…..however long term i have serious doubts that he will keep it off…His mother really screwed his life up continually waiting on him..instead of getting him outside to be one of the gang…she achieved her goal of keeping him has a baby having lost her first child at the age of 18 months…whilst this sad ..surely she should have wanted more for her son instead of enabling him to be a cripple…billys father should have gripped the situation prior to it becoming uncontrollable.

The documentary tries to make victims out of these people, anyone who is able to eat that much should actually be shot, it is repulsively disgusting! They are not victims, they are gluttons! It is very possible to say NO to food. These people are sick and revolting and I have no sympathy with them or their families whatsoever

I think this boy is going to have a lot of body issues for the rest of his life. Also having once been 250 and managing to come down to 175 I know that no matter what he does it is highly unlikely for him to lose that extra skin and flesh in some areas. So even when he enough weight to be slim or within proper weight range he will cellulite ridden and flabby. His body will probably never see definition or tone even if he works out like a bodybuider. His body will be mark with stretch marks and he will probably that swishy looking baggy bodied skin that old lady had after losin 500 lbs. As for his mother she should arrested for child cruelty. Any parent who allows their child to reach 300 lbs or I suppose 20 stone should have their kids taken away. No one under 18 should be morbidly obese and should be sent to a manditory fat camp. I believe that like anorexia such morbid obesity is not mental illness as well. Government should intervine. USA needs work but ROCKS. p.s. whered she the money to feed him.

I wonder why he hasnt died yet many other people unlike him and some these other people have from various obesity related issues before ever reaching 500lbs let alone 1000lbs. It’s also a shame that anyone would let his pecker get swallowed in his jelly rolls. I think it’s horrible he’s certainly no victim. You people are disgusting. His mother guilted him in to eating. She lost a baby and in return made her other son feel guilty for it. She is the only one to blame in this situation. Billy didn’t know any better as that is how his mother raised him. It is called enabling.

I watched half-ton teen last night. Being a person who can practically eat anything and not gain 1 pound, i can understand that giving up tasty foods cannot be easy. Someone mentioned on another board the mother may have a disease that makes her want her son to be sick so she can feel needed. I can completely see that. By overfeeding her son and spoiling him he wouldn’t “go off to college” like a typical 18 year old. Luckily it appears SOMEONE reached out in that family (probably the kid!) since he was getting scared about dying. At the end of the show the mom meets with the psychologist who was ripping her most of the show. I hope they do a follow-up and sets this mom straight: Get a life outside of your kid!

First off, that kid has nothing but props for trying to help himself. His mother isn’t the devil, nor is she a saint. Nobody except God can judge them. Secondly, that kid needs to separate ties with his mother and live in a healthy environment until he can come to grips that he himself as a MAN is responsible for what happens to him from here on out. It’s rough, and often times not pretty to break away from the people we love who are enablers… but IT MUST BE DONE TO BE SUCCESSFULL! I Really really feel bad for this kid, and for his mom who thought babying him was the answer to everything. His father shouldn’t have been so enabling either. I have no right to judge any of them, I just know if this kid seriously wants to live, he needs to be independant of his parents who watched all of this happen and later came to the conclusion that it went entirely too far. Billy, I believe in you buddy, don’t let anyone under any pretense sabotage your life. I believe in you, and so does a majority of the downtrodden/misunderstood in this country. I pray only for the best buddy.

Also, This kids parents shouldn’t be able to baby him anymore. Do I doubt she/he loves him with every fiber of their being? HEll NO! Do I believe it is imperative for him to be able to be his own man!? YOU BET YOUR ASS. God loves this man and his family as much as he loves any one of us talking here. The second you start pointing fingers and playing God, guess who looks like an ass? The facts I stated about him needing to learn how to control his own life are true, and lie only in his hands. I know his mom will want to baby him because it’s all she knows. I love that woman for wanting the best for him, but she’s going to need as much pyschotherapy as he does nutritional education in order to have a healthy relationship with him. The doctors in the show said he did better without her around in the short term, and you heard what the patient liason said. I hope she really keeps her “mission” because she is a light amongst darkness to people in that situation. I hope everyone realizes that any vice can get us low, maybe not kill us directly, but everyone can buy into something they think makes them feel better that is eventually destructive. I’m the farthest thing from a saint, and I’ve been in a situation myself that saw me lower then low, and even had my enablers. I just know there’s people out there that have beaten the odds, and so long as there’s people out there continuing to do that, they are a light fog/smog/smoke and dark cannot dim.

Interesting feed! Ultimately we can all see the guy was well morbidly obese…well done for all of you who noticed. At the end of the day the programme was made 4 entertainment purposes, and the fact there has been no follow up since it was made shows that! There are no emotions involved in good TV, this story was just so shocking, and you want to switch off in disgust, but lets face it, you can’t because the queer curiosity in you has to see what happens. So don’t take it so seriously, the whole point is that he was getting help, so it was a positive show.
PS. Brits dont hate Americans, its just a couple of small minded people talking who don’t represent us all… PLUS

I agree with the last commenter.
Lives were lost because of America’s indecisiveness on whether or not to get involved. You really cannot join a war at the end of it and claim to have won it for us.
And besides, you can’t JUST blame it on the mother. I mean, who the hell eats 2 Big Macs & doesn’t feel sick? It’s gluttony, that.
He had a voice to say “No, mother, I’m full.” It’s not like she force fed him. He just liked the attention, that’s why he went back home, because he missed his mum’s attention.
Okay, so he asked for the help, but that doesn’t make him completely innocent.
I know there’s many times when I have said to my Mum “No, it’s okay. I don’t want a dessert, I’m full.”
On the flip side, I understand how hard the lad worked, I know, myself, that it is hard to not want a Big Mac when you’re trying to eat healthily, even if you don’t put weight on, you still know that Big Mac isn’t good for you all the time.
So, I can only wish him good luck in his endeavour to become 14 stone, and I hope he does it.
I think I speak for a few people when I say this; I wish the rest of America had the same determination as that lad, to lose weight.

I noticed in a post or two that some ppl seem to equate being overweight with being American. Wile inLondon a few years ago, and then in Canterbury, I ran across a helluva lot of English fatties. Eating too much, exercising too little or not at all is not an issue of nationality, rather it is a demonstration of factors that include lack of self-discipline, mental health problems, as well as physical disabilities that can confine a person to a sedentary life. In the case of Billy, his mother exhibited the mental illness called Munchausen by Proxy, wherein a parent or caregiver deliberately causes illness or ill health in order to gain attention from others, especially those in the medical profession. Billy’s emotional growth was dramatically hindered by his mother leaving him a 20 year old with the emotional intellect of a prepubescent male. The outlook for this young man is not bright unless he is able to distance himself physically and emotionally from his mother while he gets the psychological treatment he requires.

Yeah, I’m american…not a proud one, but even so, I can’t help but feel a bit taken aback at the sheer number of people spewing scathing anti-american hatred on this page. Frankly, I despise Billy. I don’t know why on earth nobody has charged the mother with reckless endangerment, or at the very least, evaluated for Munchhausen’s and committed. Personally, I think it’s pretty disgusting that so many people are throwing prejudices like Americans=Fat, a lot of English fatties Fat C***, slob and his psychotic mother.
At the end of the day he is very ill. You would not take the mick out of a cancer patient because he has smoked. You would not laugh at aperson with anorexia/bulemia lying on their death bed, so why do it to someone that has an addiction to food???
With regards to his mother, everyone loves people in different ways. Yes the way she has loved him has contributed to him being so overwieght but he has had a personal choice to eat what is put in front of him.
I believe that a lot of you people do not realise the trauma people go through when they are overwieght, the personal strain on your body and such name calling has a massively determental effect on your self esteem and leads to comfort eating. There gets to a point where it is not about self discipline but that you literally cannot see any chance of ever being ‘normal’ and the only thing that makes you happy is food, so why not?
Also if anyone actually does their research they would find that in southern central America many years ago, the diet was high in fat and carbohydrates as there was a lot of physical labour. However, as machinery has now taken over the diet has remained. Therefore traditional food is VERY fattening.
Being obese is nothing to laugh about, nothing to be nasty and vile about. I can’t believe that people have been so openly nasty about someone who are ill.
I hope that you people that have written these hurtful comments really open your eyes.
This is coming from someone that has reached the scales of obesity 17 stone and now 11 stone. This was not my mothers fault but because I have an addiction to food and will for the rest of my life.

Billy is in somewhat not responsible in this case. Well yes he didn’t have to eat all that fatty food, but it tastes good.
