Golshifteh Farahani, an Iranian actress pictured here, is the first actress from Iran to act in a Hollywood movie since the 1979 Islamic revolution. In Iran, Golshifteh Farahani might face punishment if the court ruled that she broke Islamic law by making a Hollywood film without permission. Golshifteh Farahani played Leonardo DiCaprio’s romantic interest. Golshifteh Farahani was at the New York premiere of “Body of Lies.” Golshifteh Farahani said the Iranian officials removed her passport. The intelligence service questioned her. The judge told her they would view the movie before deciding what to do.

Golshifteh Farahani is married to Amin Mahdavi. Farahani and Mahdavi live in France. Although Farahani had her passport returned to her, she would not be taking any more chances with her safety.
