Gladwyn Taft Russ: Pallbearer Russ arrested at father’s funeral

Russ was arrested by undercover sheriff’s officers from Wilmington, North Carolina. Gladwyn Taft Russ was wanted in connection with a charge on threatening his ex-wife. After his father died, Russ agreed to surrender after his father’s funeral.
The Sheriff’s deputies did not wait after the funeral but approached him after he loaded his father’s coffin into the hearse. Russ spat at the officers and he was kneed in his back and tasered. There was a big scene as other mourners observed the fuss caused in the arrest. The Sheriff’s department has apologized for its oversight. The spokesperson said the officers should have waited until after the burial to arrest Gladwyn Taft Russ III.
