George Wilbur: George Wilbur resigns over sex abuse claims
By Therese Lisieux on October 21st, 2008Colebrook State Rep. George Wilbur, a Democrat, has tendered his resignation with immediate effect because his health had deteriorated. George Wilbur felt he has plenty of publicity over an old case from 2005. George Wilbur is from Colebrook, Hartford, Conn.
In 2005, George Wilbur was threatened by a woman who wanted to expose some serious sexual allegations that he had sexually abused her when she was a teen in between the ages of 11 – 18. George Wilbur claimed he had to refinance his home to raise cash of $100,000 to settle with the woman. George Wilbur claimed he did a private settlement to avoid a lengthly and more costly lawsuit. The woman did not file her law suit but had sent her letter to inform she was considering filing. When George Wilbur settled, the case was resolved and few people knew about it.
The Republican candidate challenger to George Wilbur’s seat, John Rigby, might have a walkover victory on Nov. 4.
