George Whitaker III, 37, was executed on Wed. Nov. 12. George Whitaker, of Houston, Texas, was convicted and sentenced for the murder of his girlfriend’s sister, Shakeitha Carrier. Whitaker wounded another sister aged 5 (Ashley Carrier) and also injured the sisters’ mother, Mary Carrier. Catina Carrier was his estranged girlfriend who broke up with him. Mary Carrier has lost the use of her right hand while Ashley Carrier has some permanent brain damage. (Details are here.)

Whitaker asked for forgiveness from his family, the victim’s family, and God. Whitaker had exhausted all appeals and clemency bid. Whitaker became Texas State’s 16th prisoner t be executed in 2008.
