George Meyer’s boat explosion, Meyer family injured (photo)
By Clarencia Cynrae on May 9th, 2009George Meyer’s boat had an explosion in Florida’s Tampa Bay on Sat, May 9. Meyer’s 33-foot two engine boat exploded while anchored in 3 feet water off Beer Can Island, near Tampa Bay, Florida.
George Meyer was on board his boat with family and extended family members when the incident happened. Authorities refused to confirm if Meyer was injured.
Eleven passengers were on board Meyer’s boat. Six people were airlifted by helicopter to Tampa G. Hospital. Five more kids were treated for smoke inhalation and deemed healthy enough to be released from hospital.
A reader has commented this George Meyer is not the same as the George Meyer who is a writer and TV producer. Meyer is best known for his work on The Simpsons.

This is not the same George Meyer from the Simpsons. This George is a retired John Deere worker from Iowa.
