Machine Gun Kelly, the rapper, whose real name is Colson Baker, was arrested. Kelly is accused of inciting disorderly conduct when he organized a flash mob on Saturday, Aug 21, 2011. Kelly was in Strongsville, Ohio, when he used Twitter to gather a flash mob at SouthPark Center, in Strongsville, Cleveland.
Kelly caused pandemonium when teenagers screamed and became wild at the sight of him. He had removed his shirt and exposed his numerous tattoos on his fair skin. Kelly was standing on a table near a stage when police approached him. He refused to get down from his perch.
Kelly, 21, is a rapper who had recently inked a deal with Bad Boy Records. The label is owned by Sean Combs (P Diddy Combs).
Why did Kelly organize the flash mob? He wanted to go against the Cleveland mayor’s proposal to make flash mobs illegal. Machine Gun Kelly is fighting against Mayor Frank Jackson’s proposed law.
Colson Baker chose the stage name Machine Gun Kelly to pay tribute to George Kelly, a gangster who reigned during the Prohibition era. The original Mr kelly used the nickname “Machine Gun”.
According to the rapper, he wanted to make a statement, to tell his fans that he would be there for them, as he is a true native of Cleveland and Ohio.
Flash mobs are dangerous. Recently a flash mob went inside a 7-11 store and robbed it. The Seven-Eleven store in Germantown, Montgomery County, Maryland, was raided. A flash mob entered the store at 1:30 am, on Sat, Aug 13, 2011. Surveillance video showed around 28 people invading the store. They grabbed candy, snacks and whatever they fancied. The whole flash mob lasted around 60 seconds but it was a terrifying long minute of lawlessness. Police are working to identify the culprits.
On Friday, Aug 12, The Game, a rapper, posted some tweets that incited a telephone flash mob. The Compton branch of the LAPD police station was tweeted as the number to call for those interested in auditioning for an internship. The police station’s telephone system was jammed by the flash mob calling in. The Game later said someone else had posted the tweets. He apologized and the LAPD did not take action against him.
