On Sunday, Dec. 21, referee Garth DeFelice made an unexpected tackle during the Rams-49ers game. Kenneth Darby, St. Louis running back, was moving fast past DeFelice. DeFelice accidentally knocked Kenneth Darby with a forearm shiver. The sports announcer mistakenly credited Patrick Willis, 49ers linebacker, with the hit.
