Major Malik Nadal Hasan is still alive. Earlier reports were wrong about Hasan being dead. Only Hasan was involved in all the shootings. Hasan is in custody.

Updated November 5 – Nidal Hasan, MD, MPH, is a psychiatrist for the Army Medical Corps, working at the Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood. Hasan had completed his residency in Psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC in 2007. Hasan received training in disaster and preventive psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences F Edward Herbert School of Medicine, in Bethesda, Md.

Malik Hasan’s cousin is Nader Hasan. Nader said his cousin didn’t believe in the wars against Iraq and Afghanistan. Nader said Malik wanted to get out of the Army before he was deployed overseas.

Updated – Major Malik Nadal Hasan was originally from Virginia. Hasan allegedly opened fire with two handguns at a graduation ceremony at the Soldier readiness Center. Hasan was the gunman who was earlier reported killed at the scene.

Hasan was a Muslim convert who was about to get deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq. Sources said Hasan was unhappy over his deployment. Hasan was described as an Army psychologist/ psychiatrist, handling mental health issues in the Army.

Updated – Unidentified sources named one of the shooters at Fort Hood Texas Army Base as Major Malik Nadal Hasan. One gunman was killed. Two suspects are in custody.

George Stratton III, the son of George Stratton, called his father to tell him he was shot in his shoulder and was being brought to surgery.

Fort Hood has 339 square miles and housed active duty troops. Around 52 000 soldiers live in the Fort Hood base.

Fort Hood in Texas had a shooting incident. There are around 12 dead and 31 injured at Fort Hood. There were 2 -3 shooters at Fort Hood.

The exact number of victims and assailants is unconfirmed. Fort Hood Soldier Readiness Center was suddenly attacked by assailants dressed in Army fatigues but the shooters may not have been Army officers.

Fort Hood and the schools nearby were ordered to go into a lockdown. The FBI and authorities are doing the investigations.

One suspect has been detained. Authorities are on the manhunt for another suspect.
