Thomas Beatie was accompanied by security as he left the hospital, with a complacent smile on his face. Security was present to keep the photographers away at a distance. Nancy had wrapped up their daughter securely is a large, oversized baby blanket.

Thomas Beatie and Nancy Roberts had earlier revealed that they would be with-holding some pictures for the exclusive use of their upcoming book. Previously, the press and media wrote that the couple would grant interviews and pictures when there was monetary compensation involved.
