Richard Attias & Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz were married on Sunday, Mar. 23, 2008.

Cecilia Sarkozy reverted back to her maiden name, Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz, after her divorce from her ex-husband, the French President Nicolas Sarkozy, became final.

Cecilia initially planned to marry her boyfriend Richard Attias, a PR person, in the summer of 2008, but changed her mind after Nicolas had his quickie marriage to Carla Bruni.

The press speculated that her move was an act of revenge against Nicolas. Nicolas had rubbed salt into the wound by giving Carla the same ring that he gave Cecilia 12 years ago.

Both Nicolas Sarkozy and Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz were not favorite darlings of the French press and they exerted extreme revenge by their coverage of Cecilia’s wedding.

Liberation, a left wing paper, published a headline that said “Three marriages and a year of mistakes.”

The wedding venue, the Rainbow Room, on the 65th floor/storey of Rockefeller Center in New York City, was also ridiculed. The French press suggested that it was cheap and unpopular.

The wedding guests numbered a mere 150 and they were sworn to secrey and had cell phones and cameras removed before being allowed to enter the wedding venue.

Cecilia was the first to leave Nicolas but she said she felt humiliated by his high profile romance of Carla Bruni and quick marriage. She claimed that it was due to Nicolas being on the rebound. She insulted Carla by saying that Carla would not make Nicolas forget her (Cecilia) in a hurry.

Fate won one round when Carla’s fashion shoot for a magazine in August got published recently in Feb-Mar 2008. The nude photos were done way before she became involved with Sarkozy. Of course, it was a huge windfall and jackpot for the magazine and it went ahead to print the issue. Of course, there were countless stacks of Carla Bruni’s naked pictures that were done in the past during her modeling days. Some people even had videos of her naked modeling.

People who did not know about the background of how the publishing industry worked criticized Carla for exposing herself when she held the woman’s highest social position in France.
