November 21 – Esther Reed was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Reed was sentenced in Greenville, South Carolina. Reed was charged with identity theft, mail fraud and wire fraud.

Reed’s attorney claimed her client was mentally ill after her mother died in 1998. Reed tried to hide herself by living in another identity. The prosecution said Reed did her scams to support her living.

Esther Reed, 30, was accused of entering Ivy League schools using fake identities. Reed spun webs of deception as she became an impersonator. Reed has been arrested and brought to trial in South Carolina.

Reed was originally involved in a credit card fraud case. She ran away and started using fake names and led different lives. Who are some of the women’s identities Reed usurped to become them? Esther Reed has used the names of Brooke Henson and Natalie Bowman before.

Who was or who is Brooke Henson?

Brooke Henson lived in Travelers Rest, SC. Police informed that Brooke Henson was found in the summer of 2006 but she was not the real Henson. Esther Reed had taken the identity of Henson. Brooke Henson disappeared around 2000 when she was 20 years old. Henson is still missing. Some people think Henson is dead. Police did not have a body or suspects to work on.

Esther Reed lived in Townsend, Montana. Reed disappeared around the same time as Henson, in 2000. Police did not think Reed was involved in Henson’s disappearance. They want to ask Reed some questions on how she got to assume Brooke Henson’s identity.

Esther Reed’s father still lives in Townsend. He hopes Esther would return home one day. Mr Reed wants to send the message that he loves her.

Reed had relationships with at least four officer candidates at West Point and Annapolis. Reed allegedly received money from her friends, as well as money transfers from outside the country. The amounts were large enough for the FBI to be concerned. The word “spy” comes to mind.

Reed left behind a video card belonging to Natalie Bowman. Bowman may be one of the fake identities used by Reed.

Esther Elizabeth Reed used Brooke Henson’s name to apply to Harvard University and Columbia University, two Ivy League universities.
