Erin Rohwer, 27, a school teacher in a Catholic school, has been arrested for sexual exploitation with her student, 18. Rohwer is accused of sexual exploitation as the male teen was her student and she was in a position of being in charge.

Rohwer is a teacher at Dowling High School. Rohwer was not just any teacher but the Head of Department for the English Language section. Rohwer and the male student are both of legal age but because she is his teacher and in a position of authority over him, their sexual relationship is against the law.

Although the alleged relationship happened outside the school and outside school hours, the authorities are investigating this case.

Rohwer was charged with a class D felony. This charge carries a maximum of 5 years and a fine of between $750 – 7500.

Erin Rohwer was arrested on Mon., Jan 12. Rohwer has posted her bond. Dowling High School has has placed Rohwer on leave.
